Show A West Jordan Product (From the West Jordan Farmer's Journal) Our handsome young athletic friend, Robert E. Gardner, was in our midst on Sunday last, to spend the day with his family and to get a taste of something besides boarding-house grub for a change. This is Robert's last year at the University of Utah, and from what he says, we guess he must be just about the whole thing in the Senior class. Although in his modesty, R. E. denied us a full list of the honors he has attained at the "U" during his career, he says he has at least handled the funds of his class successfully. Not alone his words, but his looks, stamp him as a veritable "king among men," and West Jordan is proud to say that it is the home of the most modest and unassuming, and yet the most auspicious, man at the University of Utah. The country needs more men of Robert's stature and make-up. So go head, Bob: West Jordan is behind you. Willard Proud of Robert (From the Box Elder Gazette) A short time ago the news reached Willard that R. D. Dalton, son of our noted townsman, had attained high honors in the scholastic sphere and was looked upon by the professors of the University of Utah as a likely candidate for the Rhodes Scholarship. The editor of the Gazette immediately wrote to R. D. and asked him for a picture and a short history of his career. We received the picture Monday, and it can be seen elsewhere in this issue. The photo portrays Robert as Willard remembers him, a bashful, silent little fellow, but with a mind of his own and a willpower to do large things. Although Willard knows little of fraternities, they are pleased to learn that among his many attainments, Robert has become a fraternity man. Robert writes that this honor is one that comes to but few, as a fraternity is a very exclusive affair. His many friends are now waiting anxiously for Bob to accomplish something as a result of his many honors. ( 212 ) |
