" A Well, I was a boatman Probably as much as any of them; I was brought up in the Lake section, in New York, and spent a great deal of time on those lakes, and on Erie canal, and on the Creeks there, and ponds, in boats, rowing." R. 1419. BLACKMAR: My question was, do you think you could have done it. " THE SPECIAL MASTER: He has answered; he said he thought he could not. " THE WITNESS: I couldn't do it." R. 1420.
