Show OHI Harry Doctorman 3-24-86 sl:9 The kids would come in and talk to his mother. And she'd say, "No, ou go tell them, You're a Mormon." The kids would go out and tell them Mormon. Then the kid would come in and tell his Dad, Well, they told me I'm Jewish. And he'd say, You go out and tell them you're Jewish. And there was a big conflict in the family. The kids didn't know what they were. The mother would go out and say, you tellfuem you're Mormon. And the Bther would tell them, No, you're Jewish. And got the kids really confused. LK that could happen. HDYeah. Mother was a staunch Mormon. Andhis father was - he used to go to shulevery day. Real ORthodox Jew. They used tohave a mnyon in the morning. He would come every morning. He was only 3 or 4 blocks from the Montefoire shul. idon't think he ever missed. And when his boy married this Mormon girl, he was just heartbroken. I don't think he ever even alked tohlm after he got mrried. He disowned him. LK What do you think your reaction wouldbe if your kids .. HD I wouldn't like it/ I used to go out with gentile girls too. I guess, my fahter said, Boy, if ~u ever marry a gentile, I'd just disown you. You'd have nothing to do with the business. I just won'thavenothing to do with you. And! usedd to go out with some nice gentile girls. But I didn't want to marry a gentile. There were hardly no Jewish girls in Salt Lake to take out. You'd take out one or two once or twice and either you didn't like them or they didn't like you. Andpretty near all the ruys of my age allwent ~t of town to get married - found someboyd out of town. |
