An unidentified woman, probably a wife, joined the conversation.The Okado brothers (b. 1919 to 1929) talk about the families of their mother and father in Japan, relocation to Hawaii, coming to Utah and raising sugar beets, and land ownership policies in the U. The church itself, the!~contact -- there'd be contacts. 3Man Yeah, there would be contact with - fathers and -mothers, you ljMan know. Our father andmother had all of their friends comeover. And thre's always contact then. But for us kids, We would -went to regular schools. ~~ ~ ~ ~ S"cfio,~ h-7 ~ Cl'Z£1(?- ..(e.~.e,.. •·• And it was a little - maybe 50 maybe 70 kids in fuat school. And we were the mly oriental kids there. SF Sothe Fukuis then werein another school. [Yes] ~A Another school. And everybodyles in a little school [talking around this man] I/~ a-@~(1,/-/. d/Vzy v/· ~ .,, I think. There were alot of Orientals that were there - theywere in a group over there, more or less. ~/.?~~area. There'd be some there. When we got out of here,- good gads, you know, we were just more or less •••• isolated. More or less. 3Man WEll, justlike antying else. When you have people - people in -an area. You have some people that's rich o~ .prosperous. They have a tendency to look down onthe other people ~Jf~ poor. And- and they want to take advantaged it. But but here, everybody J/,4fwlfs ~,-d{ 1 was poor. I mean, there wasn't a one guy A- everybody was poor. |
