And the Ins pita 1 was owned by an o 1 d doctor here ~ in town. That had love for people. He gave his whole life and everything he owned to build this hospital. And maintain the hospital. And he just reached the point where he couldn't put the improvements in the hospital that they wanted. And we knew that we needed a professional ad-minstrator. Someone who knew how to run a hospital. And so I was called that evening to meet in J.D. Harrison's office. And there were 13 of us. And he said, well we need 26,000$ to update the hospital and meet the fire marshall's needs. And, he says, --and looked around the room and I thought that's 2,000$ apiece. And haven't got $2,000 bucks - the rest of you guys have. But I can't get $2,000, now, where am I going to raise that. Then, he says, we'd like you to go out and each of you raise two thousand and that would be 20 you'd have b contact. And I looked at wr little community and there wasn't people that had that kind of money. And . raise so I toldhim, well, that's f1ne, you guys 1t the way you want, I'm going to raise it the way I vJant. So I knocked on every door of that community, asking, I says, I don't care what you can give-give us something to- to make sure the hospital's open. Well, I had everything from $5 to $200 and I had some --the wealthy people of the community about threw me out of the house, for asking .And their children were born in thatlnspital. Anyway, it was really an experience and when we got the money together, I turned mine in in little checks. And these guys here, they'd all put their ten $200 dollar checks out.
