Show 2001 Utah Health Status Survey Kimberly Partain McNamara S Utah Department of Health Office of Public Health Assessment The Utah Department of Health Office of Public Health Assessment will be conducting the Utah Health Status Survey HSS again in 2001 The HSS istelephone survey approximately000 with conducted households randomly selected across the state of Utah As the name suggests the survey is designed to collect information onvariety of health status topics including health insurance coverage access to health health care chronic health conditi screening limitations of activities general The health status and demographics survey will be stratified by local health district to afford reasonable precision for local-level estimates Most of the topics will be reported at the local health district level and in some larger counties some of the topics will be reported for smaller geographic areas Fordescription of Utah61 small areas see Haggard et al 1999 The survey will collect information about all household members and will provide estimates for children The 2001 survey -administration will represent the fourth Health Status Survey to be conducted in Utah In 1986 the Utah Department of Health conducted the first statewide Health Status Survey to evaluate the health status of the residents of Utah As was the original intent the HSS has been conducted every five years to monitor the changing health profile of the population of Utah The second survey was conducted in 1991 and the third in 1996 The 1991 1996 and 2001 surveys were designed to be comparable to the 1986 survey yet were adjusted to include topics relevant to current issues and more precise measures of the health status of Utah residents The Health Status Survey has undergone some changes for the 2001 administration Foremost among these changes is that the survey has been funded to allow for more frequent data collection perhaps every two years instead of every five Another important change is that the sections on medical coverage and access to health care have been expanded to obtain more detailed information and to allow for comparison with large federal surveys such as the Current Population Survey CPS Data collection for the 2001 HSS is scheduled to begin in March and will conclude after three months The data will be available to the public by the end of the year Haggard LM Shah Rolfs T 1998 Assessing community health status Establishing geographic areas for small area analysis in Utah UtahHealth An Annual Review Salt Lake Gity UT The Governor Scott Matheson Center for Health Care Studies 141 Digital image 2005 Marriott Library University of Utah Al rights reserved |
