asking Him to spare her life, and promising Him if he would -do so ~e would take her back to the bosom of the church and n.ever leave it again. His prayer was answered, and as soon as she was able to travel, they started again for Utah, arrivi ng in Kays v ille . The first place they came to was the home of Fred Shrepel, where the old Nance home now stands . .rrhis was a smal l one-room adobe house. It had a lean-to on the west side roofed with willows and having a dirt floor which served as a kitchen . It was there she l ost her small son, Charles, and one day while visiting at her neighbor:s, Sister Weinel, she met Patriarch Charles Hyde who upon seeing her grieving over her child, blessed her and promised her that she should yet have two sons who would grow to manhood and be a ccmfort to her in her old age . Now her husband traded the two teams he had brought from Oregon for a homesite belonging to Joseph Young (where Henry Graham had his home . ) It was a long room facing west, built of huge sturdy logs and very sub-stantial. In fact , many are the times friends would take refuge there during a terrific east wind because the house was so safe. It would seem that she would be settled now for sometime , but she I was not , for her husband took his family to Evanston, Wyoming, where he could procure work in order to pay for h is home . At Lemmington , her son, Alexander was accidently kill ed by a train and e l even months later her husband died. She then returned to her home in Kaysville. Her health was not very good, but she struggled on to help support her children. Among the things she did was weaving carpets , and many were the floors she covered with handiwork .
