Halau Building. Honolulu, Hawaii 96815 September 25, 1967 Professor Aziz S. Atiya University of Utah Middle East Center Building 41 Salt Lake City, Utah 84112 My dear Aziz, Thank you for your gracious letter of September 8th. Believe me, it was the highlight of the Congress to have a chance to see you and Mrs. Atiya again. I wouldn't have missed it for anything, and only hope the two of you will have a chance to visit me in Hawaii in the near future. I would love to entertain you in the best Hawaiian aloha fashion. Should I have a chance to get to Utah in the near future, I will of course, report in immediately to my favorite scholar, and it's always such a pleasure to see you. Thank you so much for the good words on my "Unknown Oman." I am leaving next week to lecture at Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Sussex to help launch the book. I think you'll enjoy my history, and I've been stimulated over the years by your magnificent contributions in history, which are unique to the world, and all I want is to be considered one of your junior students. Please, send me your "History of Eastern Christianity," this interests me very much. My book on Jesus is tentatively called "An Explorer Meets Jesus and the Koran." When the time comes, I may ask you to check over a chapter or two for me, for I would like an application of your profound scholarship on certain aspects of the book. I am keeping you very much in mind with Hawaii Loa College. We are not at a stage yet where we can use your expert |
