Water-toags.-The greater part of these lands are covered by irrigating eaosla, hot only a portion of said canals hsve been kept in good order; in some plnees the1 are par-tially destroyed, in others totally. Mare than nine-tenths of this land baa ken onder cultivation, hot one-half of it has been neglected;, the other half is still io @order, and the ditches for irrigating the same are in repaw. lVee8.-Saueral thousand cottonwood-trees have been planted beside the ditches. beiogfromons to eight years old, and from twenty to sixty feet high; thrifty. Vinejqards.-Seveu plats planted in vineyard, on which are two thousand good grape-vines from four to eight years old; fifteen hundred second class of the same ago, aud one thonsaud third class, or nearly worthless, of the same age. Meadow.-Eighteen acres set in luoeru, and eight acres partly set. Buildings.-Adobe house on stone foundation, oovered with tules and earth. %oms all without ceiiinga. Roomased as post-office, 10 by 14 ; parlor, 14 by 15; large bed-room, 14 by 15; low bed-room, 1P by 15; dining-room, 16 by 20 ; kitchen, 16 by 16; pant.ry,E by 14; wash-room, 8 by 14; mom for atoce, (not covered,) 16 by 18; blt%cksmith-shop, 16 by 40; the wslls are 13 feet high;' substantial floors are common; oasiugs to doors and windons plain; doors plain; ont,side cellar, 12 by 14; stone walls. BELDING, CHANDLER BELDING, AND LEWIS SEABRIGHT The amount of land within this claim is eonsiderahly less than one hundred and sixty (160) aores to eaoh peraon,bot tho value of the claim,in the estimation of the. oommisaioncrs,ia in no way affected by the amount of land, as the aQaoent lands are still nnoook~pied and as the General Government hss never yielded the title to any of the said lands. The value of the improvements end water-rights only are oonsidered. Tho lands ~noluded within t.his olaim were surwyed by the same officer anrl at tho same time as those in the claims above, at leaat such iuformation has been received by the oommissiou, but no copy of such surveys hrs been received. About one hundred (100) aores has been under cultivation; now there are forty (40) aores nuder cultivi~tiouiu good order end with irrigating o&nalsi n good repair. Tees.-Several hundred cottonwood and other trees are set along the oanills; they are from twenty to sixty feet high, good and thrifty. Small amount of well-cultivated garden-shrubbery. A small amount of hedging aot for the purpose of subdividing a. part of tho land into lots. V4neya1.d.-Twelve huudrkd gmpo-vines, four to six years old, in good order; eight hundred second-rate grape-vines; live hundmcl third-rate, or noarly worthless. Two thousand second-rate grups-vines of the aame age, and tvo thousand three hnu-dred and fifty third-mte grapa-viues of the same age. |
