Description From the British Isles to Sanpete came Nathaniel Edmunds and his wife, Jane Jones. Like most of the early Welsh in Sanpete, they were from Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, South Wales. The first mayor of Manti, Dan Jones (1852), was also from Merthyr Tydfil. Dan was known as "The Welsh Prophet," and he was responsible for a good share of Che Welsh emigration to Utah and Sanpete.
