Show Page 4 EDUCATION COMMITTEE REPORT Talbot called, and they are still waiting for a short summary on each person serve on the committee; Ms. Henry told him that they would get the write-ups on each individual serving on the education committee by today; and as soon as they are submitted, Mr. Cope will mail them in, and they will be presented to the board; they will be the Advisory Council on Black Education for the State Board of Education. This should be done soon after the meeting. They have asked to kinds of areas that in those be able to go allover the state to address problems need attention. They have also asked permission to address problems first in Mr. Dooley suggested that the board, before the Ogden Area school districts. aware of all the monies and money categories become school district, any visiting and the programs that are intended, particularly through the federal arm, for those various school districts. They will then know what programs are available in different areas, and what programs they do not have. Dr. to A motion was made that the education committee report be accepted. seconded and carried. The motion was EMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE REPORT The employment committee hasn't met yet, but Felix McGowan and Silvia Moody have This been traying to carry out the assignment they received in a past meeting. that in Utah and the universities all might colleges assignment was to contact have Blacks attending and find out what their student status was and whether or not they would be interested in staying in Utah if employment were made available to them. Lists have been received from Utah State, Weber State, and the University The next move on those lists would be to set up some kind of meeting of Utah. or conference at each school through the Affirmative Action Officer or the Black Counselor or whoever they have who is a liaison between the administration and the Black studentbody. They will do some talking with some of those people and find out how accurate the information they have is and use that to incorporate into the book, that is supposed to be revised, on the status of Blacks of Utah- the catalogue. They haven't received a list from Westminster yet, but they have Silvia was asked to contact Mrs. Cora Adams at Westminster, and been contacted. they would get their information faster.
