Title Interpersonal relationships in a Salt Lake City neighborhood, 1963 Part IV Northcrest
Date 1963
Description A person rarely, if ever, exists alone. He is linked in many different ways to groups. Much has been written about primary groups and the influence they have upon their members. A meaningful conception of mental health can be achieved only as we relate the functioning of the individual to the human relation patterns of his primary group. 1 Sociologists, possibly under the influence of Cooley, have classified the neighborhood 'as a primary group characterized by intimate face-to-face associations and cooperation as a fundamental force in forming personality.
