Description "Some intracranial lesions result from abnormal development during embryogenesis."
Abstract "Some intracranial lesions result from abnormal development during embryogenesis. These lesions are divided into three main categories: neoplasms, choristomas (lesions formed from maldeveloped tissue that is not normally present at the site of the lesion), and hamartomas (lesions that result from maldevelopment of tissue that is normally present at the site of the lesion but that develop and grow at virtually the same rate as the surrounding normal tissue). In this chapter, we consider the major isolated intracranial lesions that appear to fit into each of these categories."
