Abstract |
"In this chapter, we consider the symptoms and signs that may occur in patients with ocular, orbital, intracranial, and spinal cord tumors. Most of these symptoms and signs are associated not only with tumors but also with vascular, inflammatory, and degenerative lesions, especially if there is mass effect. The results of a comprehensive neuro-ophthalmologic evaluation may be crucial in deciding whether to subject the patient to further diagnostic studies, and if so, to what extent. We separate the symptoms and signs that are found during such a history and examination into three categories: nonlocalizing, falsely localizing, and truly localizing." |
