Any one of th e s e c a n yons can be re a c h e d fro m th e sc e n ic W asatch B o u lev ard w hich p a s s e s the m outh of e a c h canyon. T hrough th is p a s s , O rso n P r a t t and E r a s tu s Snow, two M orm on p io n e e r le a d e r s , e n te re d th e v a lley and s u rv e y e d c o n d itio n s, on Ju ly 22, 1847, and w ere follow ed the next day by th e f i r s t co n tin g en t of the p io n e e r g ro u p , Who began m aking p r e p a ra tio n s fo r liv in g th e r e .
