Show .... 59 .... year old steerQ Took breakfast at JQ Fouts then drove Feb 14th MondaYe 12 miles across the Sevier River (forded it) to Monroe where we stopped overnight, got our oxen fed on straw & chaff Went to see Ce Olsen and was well received by him" Took breakfast with Co Olsen in com= Feb 15th Tuesdaye and with Smith L" & Lo Rogers then hitched up family pany and drove 15 miles over a mountain to Marysvale, when we camped and turned our oxen oute Had some hard work to get over the mountaino Left Marysvale at daybreak and Feb 16th Wednesdayo drove about 7 miles and camped an hour and onehalfJ then drove about 13 miles to Cirvlevil1e where we came after darke Had an ox give out belonging to Me Hesse Feb 17th Thursdays Stopped at Circlevilleo Tied up hay & looked after oxeno Lo Smith went on with the horse and mule teams to break the road through the snow over the divideo Feb 18th Fridayo Stopped at Circlevilleo Greased the fixed around somes & wagon Took breakfast and started out in com= 19th Saturday from Sanpete County, went 4 miles to with more teams some pany a canyon then 10 miles up a canyon along the Sevier River crossed the river on the ice once and forded it once, it was very deep, went up on tbe sides of the wagon boxo Came to a bad place in the canyon where LQ Smith's ox driver broke the axle to his wagon, camped there for the night & turned our oxen loosee -20th Sunday,. Got breakfast and drove our oxen over the Sevier River and up the mountain for feed" Spent the after= noon round camp fixing the road same &Ce 21st Monday" Some of the boys went to get the cattle upo I helped to unload the broken wagon and fixed up round my own wagon, chopped wood, got water &C & fed my oxen corn & left them over the river 0' 22nd Tuesdayo Helped put the broken wagon together while We are now ten some of the boys were out getting the cattle After of 45 head a stock, in with oxen & wagons, company dinner drove over a bad place and went 4 miles out of canyon into Panguitch valley, drove our oxen about 2 miles in the . 0 0 hi.Ll s , but found no feed; Feb 23rd Wednesdaye Some got the oxen UPe Took break fast & fed oxen some hayo Drove 14 miles to Panguitch where stopped over D:ight and fed our oxen straw" One of Me Hess's .. we |
