He then ordered them to proceed. him to his car which , was parked a short distance away. As they started for the , car the man broke into a run when ordered to stop rnfused 1 to d-o so. Th'is forced the Sher- iff to shoot him. The bulle'tt went in his back and came out in front. Believeing :the man to be fatally wounded the Sheriff left the couple and went down to get his car. When he drove up the man put a shotgun in Urn car window and ,told him to "stick them up.'' Then they dLsarmed him and shackled him , to a tree with his handcuffs, took his car and drove away. It was about 10 a.m. Wednesday morning when -they left him and it was over twentyfour hours later that he was able to release himself. The handcuffs were placed ;SO tightly on ,the sheriff that 'it was a 1 miracle that he was able to release himself. This he was able to 40 fter suffering excrusiatin g pain.
