Show JULIO, COQUI', AND THE MANGO TREE Every night after supper, Julio would go outdoors to look and listen. "Coqui', qui' qui*," sang the voices. Julio often thought they sounded like little glass drums and sometimes like a baby laughing'. Other times he thought they sounded like a bird an sometimes like tinkling bells. He turned toward the Mango Tree and listened. He thought he heard voices. He turned toward the Flamboyant Tree and thought he heard voices. He turned toward the Banana Tree and was quite sure he heard voices. "If I could ever see one, I would know what they are really like", he said to himself. ^ He tip-toes over to the Banana Tree and lifted a leaf to see If they were under there. He saw nothing. Slowly, he walked around the tree, looking at every leaf. He saw nothing. "What happened to them, anyway?" he thought. "Coqui', qui' qui*," sang a chorus way over in the Mango Tree. |
