Show he thought. "Your father will come when his work is done," she answered sleepily. A week went by. Each day the willow was watered four times. The middle willow grew fast and the twigs around it grew. Another week passed - another and another. But Kleeka was the first to the willow in the morning and the last to go home. One day the tall shepherd came with his knife and Kleeka watched him from a bush near by. He watched him pound the bark with the butt of hi3 knife. He saw Kleeka and he called, "Why do you stay close by?" "To watch the willow," he said. "I watered it and it is mine." "It is not ready anyway," said the shepherd and he rounded up his herd and went away. The next day the second shepherd came with a knife and pounded at the bark of the middle willow but Kleeka was there again to claim his willow. The next day the third shepherd came to test the bark. Kleeka was there as before. |
