Show of which will have to go to the five primary canals for use by their stockholders on their farms. The Utah Copper is one of the greatest assets of the state and its prosperity is vital to every citizen in the state. If the lake were diked and fresh water were available the Utah Copper could draw water they need from there, thus relieving a good part of the burden on Utah Lake. Of course, Salt Lake will have to take care of its sewage, but many other cities are doing this, and by proper filtration somewhere around 50 sec. ft. of good water would be available for irrigation of land along the edge of the lake* I am sure you will all join me in paying tribute to Mr. J. 0. Elton, Mr* George Snyder, and the other public spirited gentlemen who have been working on this diking plan* It is only by the unselfish work of such citizens that a project of this magnitude can be put over. I feel very keenly that the diking of Salt Lake is feasible, it is something we all should get behind, and that it will probably be one of the biggest things for the future of our state that can possibly be done. Again I want to assure you of the unselfishness of Salt Lake City's position in this matter, and to ask your earnest cooperation. 25 - |
