Bigler in regard to her studies. As you know, she applied for a position in our schools last year, but we found her so deficient in spelling, writing and English that we asked her to enter the Collegiate Institute that she might be better prepared for the work of teaching. She now writes that the faculty advises her to take up Latin or mathematics rather than advanced English. The poor child seems somewhat perplexed, and we write to you to ask you to arrange her studies with a view to giving her an opportunity to perfect herself in the elementary branches. We have written her that it may be a help for her to take up Latin, as it would be a help to her in understanding English better. We do not want you to take an exception in her case, but wish her to take up some studies as will help to become efficient.

Sincerely yours,

Miss S. F. Lincoln

|
