McNiece, D.D., <br> Salt Lake City, Utah. <br><br> Dear Brother: <br> In drawing up plans for the college buildings allow me to suggest that there should be no wing or ell to the main building, unless it is made only one room deep. One great advantage that you have at Salt Lake City for an institution is your wonderful climate, and the climate is largely helped by the sunshine. In the erection of college buildings there ought to be no room that is not accessible to the sunshine. I would therefore suggest that the buildings run lengthwise, north and south. I think that the land lies in that direction facing the west; but this will give a morning sun in the rooms at the rear of the building and an afternoon sun in the front rooms. This seems to me exceedingly important. <br> I enclose you a little plan that may be suggestive to the architect when he comes to plan for a dormitory. You will notice that two students are expected to occupy a common study room with a separate bed-room and closet for each of the two pupils.
