THE CHURCH REVIEW. <br> Among the Churches <br> OF SALT LAKE CITY. <br><br> PHILLIPS CONGREGATIONAL. <br> Next Sunday morning is Communion season. We hope every member of the church may be present at the Lord's table. <br> While other churches have arranged for special meetings and are being blessed thereby, let us not forget that we have in our church two evangelistic agencies which may produce among the boys and girls far greater results than would a revival service. We refer to the Sunday School and the Junior Endeavor. <br> One week from next Tuesday is the date for the grand concert in the first Congregational church. As all who take part in the program are well known musicians, we are sure this entertainment will be a decided success. <br> The pastor expects to secure the very best stereopticon slides to illustrate his Sunday evening sermons on the Holy Land. Familiar hymns will be illustrated by many beautiful colored pictures. <br> The subject this evening will be "From Egypt to the Promised Land." <br><br> Plymouth. <br> The "China" lecture was a success so far as the seventy-one views were concerned and in other things with the exception of numbers in attendance. We hardly ever had so few people out at any entertainment. It was a discouraging reward for the days of work expended by the pastor in preparation and those who were not present missed a chance which will be a long time in coming again, if it ever does. We hear one lady who was present say that "it was the best thing we ever had in Plymouth." It certainly was very valuable as well as exceedingly interesting. <br><br> CENTRAL, CHRISTIAN. <br> The meetings during the past week have been well attended, the sermons clear and earnest, and the singing excellent. <br> A daily paper during the remainder of the meeting is one of the possibilities. We are at work on it now. <br> The Tabernacle is an accomplished fact. It was made the subject of earnest prayer and the Lord has made it possible for us to build it up. We hope it may be the means of saving many souls. Bro. Romig has been asked to address the Ministerial Association on Monday at 11 p. m. His subject will, be Evangelistic work. He will have an interested audience. <br> We have learned of several Disciples sending for their letters during the past week to unite with us. There are quite a number in the city who ought to do this and we hope they will take this hint and at once secure their letters. <br> The service at the Y. M. C. A. rooms on last Sunday afternoon was a most excellent one. Every seat was occupied by earnest young men. <br> Mr. John T. Axton has very kindly offered us the use of the rooms of the Y. M. C. A. in connection with our work in the Tabernacle. <br> So far every material blessing and assistance we have asked the Lord to give us during this meeting has been granted. For these signal blessings we give the Lord God praises. <br> We have to thank, besides our own brethren who worked on the Tabernacle, members of the Methodist and Congregational churches and one or two gentlemen who are not members of any church, for their cooperation and labor in putting up the Tabernacle. We trust the Lord will greatly bless them. <br><br> FIRST BAPTIST. <br> The Birthday Social that our ladies have been contemplating for some time will be held a week from next Friday evening. Get your pennies ready. It will be one of the great events and so arranged that every one can take a happy part. <br> The musical concert by the Sunday school will be held in about three weeks. A fine program has been prepared. The price of admission will be very low. Proceeds for our new Sunday School singing books. Every member of the Sunday school is expected to attend the rehearsals when called, to urge the sale of tickets and in every way help on the enterprise. <br> Miss Lillie Jackman's piano forte pupils, called "The Cecelia Club," gave a musical at her studio yesterday afternoon, and Miss Jackman read an essay on the History of the Piano Forte. <br><br> EAST SIDE BAPTIST. <br> Rev. D. D. Profer, general missionary for Washington, made a short stop in our city Tuesday on his way past to attend the Baptist Anniversaries. <br> Miss Effie Putnam, our missionary at Ogden, spent from Tuesday eve until Friday with the pastors family. From Salt Lake she extends her trip to Provo to visit our workers there. <br> Mrs. Wince, secretary of the ladies' society of Clarendon street Baptist church, Boston, spent part of Wednesday in Salt Lake. This Clarendon street church supports our mission at Ogden. <br> Rev. M. C. Bowie is in the city on his way east. He was with us Wednesday eve. We had a good meeting. Bro. Bimrose was received into membership and three requested prayers. Rev. Bowie will preach tonight. <br><br>
