Show THE CHURCH REVIEW.

Y. M. C. A. News.

SUNDAY MEETINGS.
Perhaps you have not attended one of these meetings since they have been held in the "front room," and therefore you do not know the advantages of meeting there. The light is better, the audiences are more compact, the door is so situated that to secure a back seat requires an extra effort and to get out before some member gives you a hearty handshake is almost impossible; then too with this bright and cheerful room there is a feeling of cordiality among the members which is noticeable as soon as one enters. There is a studied effort on the part of everybody to make every other body feel at home. Come in today and with us hear of Him who said "I am the way, the Truth and the Life."

BIBLE CLASS.
Notwithstanding the big celebration last Monday evening when everybody seemed to be attracted by the noise of bands, drum corps, marching clubs, shotgun brigades, etc., etc., eleven men were present at the Bible class, conducted by Mr. Bowler. The lesson was "How we may obtain the baptism of the Holy Spirit." This entire page might be covered with a description of the lesson and then not do it justice. You must attend if you would know how interesting and how helpful these lessons are.

MALE CHORUS.
Nothing attracts men like good music. If a man has a good voice, whether trained or not, nothing gives him more pleasure than singing. There is a peculiar charm about a chorus of all men's voices. The deeper tones seem to give a richness of effect and a power rarely found in mixed music. These facts tend to make a male chorus, well directed, an ideal form of music for the men's meetings. Realizing this an effort is being made to organize such a chorus. If you are interested in this meet with the class Thursday at 8 p. m.

FOOTBALL.
We have secured the Exposition grounds for a grand benefit game of football to be played on Thanksgiving day. It is not yet decided what team we will play, but you may look for a good game. Our team is recognized to be one of the strongest, if not the strongest in the city, and as the fellows are practicing every afternoon and evening for this game, they are sure to be in good condition. Realizing that turkey dinners are a big attraction between the hours of two and four o'clock and that the morning hours are occupied by special service we have struck a happy, medium and will call the game at high noon.

ECHOES.
It is about time for another social.
The new parlor is in constant use.
Of our regular eleven, six are active members.
Twenty men are now counted as members of the football team.
If you want to take guitar or mandolin lessons see the secretary.
Prof. Tibbals touched a warm spot in the hearts of the men last Sunday.
Would you like to take vocal lessons? Read male chorus announcement.
Read the announcement of leaders and the subjects for the Sunday meetings.
The class rooms are cold and cheerless. They need carpets. Who will send the first one, about 12x14.

SUNDAY SCHOOL CONVENTION.
The Utah Sunday School Association will hold its ninth annual convention in Salt Lake City at the First Congregational church, November 30 and December 1 and 2, immediately following Thanksgiving Day. Opening session will be Friday evening at 7:30. The program is pronounced excellent by all who have seen it. No superintendent or teacher can afford to miss this opportunity for new inspiration in their work. The presence of every Sunday School worker in the territory is desired. Sunday afternoon's session will be devoted to the primary department. Teachers, bring all of your scholars, little ones and big ones, and come yourselves.
Those who are willing to entertain delegates are again asked to send their names to Mr. Van. H. Brooks, Opera House block. Lunches will be served at the church. The members of the committees appointed by the various Sunday schools are requested to meet at the First Presbyterian church tomorrow, Monday, evening at 7:30. "COMMITTEE."

Westminster Presbyterian.
Friday evening, Nov. 10, found in this society enjoying a social at their church. Ten cents admission introduced one to an interesting program of song and recitation followed by refreshments. The North-west Presbyterian Sunday school is their special charge. Organized and entirely supported by the society, it is flourishing under the superintendency of our Local Union President, Mr. H. N. Tolles. Surely they are to be commended upon undertaking this most practical endeavor.

"You can generally tell what a man thinks of God by the way he talks about his neighbors." |
