Show old job where I used to work at that time which I did work at b for I 1 ft. I w rk d up at Hill Air Force Base out of Layton there. FHM: That's in Utah? JAD: Yes. That's up around Ogden there, just about ten miles out of Ogden. I'd worked there. And when I got out I went back to the base and went back to work for them. FHM: What kind of work did you do up there? JAD: Oh my goodness, I've done everything. I drove forklifts, I drove tugs, I drove all these kind of vehicles. I was a warehouse person for part of the time. I done that. I worked in publications for a long while, for supply of publications around the world for what they did, Air Force publications anyway. I was moved from there. I was moved into salvage where we worked on the salvage of the airplanes, the salvage of the trucks, the salvage of anything, and there put them across the line. We'd tag them for what parts they were, and they was able to be sold to the public at auction for whatever they did from the salvage yard. And I went to work for the housing part where we had military housing, in which they got furniture and stuff for this warehouse. I worked for them as a supervisor in there. And we furnished all they wanted to borrow, the military, for their housing deal when they come on bases in that deal. Plus we furnished all the furniture for the dormitories, and the barracks, and stuff like that for the base. FHM: Did you ever take advantage of the GI Bill? JAD: Yeah. I flew couple of- ah, flying lessons out of a couple ofGI Bills. One for World War II, and I done flew other airplanes for training for commercial air force, and a license, a flying license. FHM: Did you get a license? 12 |
