Show Lew W. ro LWC: Yeah we didn't have no TV's aboard ship then. FHM: So how did you feel when that happened? January 20 2004 LWC: Well, we was just glad it was over. Everybody was really glad it was over. FHM: Did they have big party on the ship? L WC: No, no. Just ah ... hooted and hollered, and that was about it. FHM: We're on our way home, maybe? Okay, this is a chance to say anything, anything else that you want to say about any of your experiences. You might tell about your yearbooks. L WC: Well, I have two yearbooks here. One of the USS Princeton in Korea, and then one from USS Indiana from World War II. FHM: Are there pictures in there? LWC: Yes, there's pictures of all the divisions, and pictures of all the ships, and what we done during the time. FHM: So you have a documented history of what you participated in? LWC: Yeah, pretty much. FHM: How do you feel when the flag goes by? L WC: Well, I feel very patriotic. FHM: Okay. Well, I want to thank you for this good interview, and hope some of my grandchildren will study or read about it, and know a little bit about what life was like during those times. I thank you very much. L WC: Okay. Okay, she just asked me-there was a marine detachment on both our ships, and when we was in Tokyo Bay while they was signing the Peace Treaty, the marine detachment and a few of us sailors went over in Tokyo and Yokohama and that, to liberate the prisoners.
