BBL: PAU: BBL: HEL: BBL: the bishop got up. PAU: So it had started in the ward then and bishop got up. Well that was World War I. Yeah, right. Well it's just like now with our, with the Muslims. Right. Oh, so that's interesting. Might put a stop to it, I guess, when Anyway after I applied for Pearl Harbor, the smelter got wind of it and they squashed it all. "This is not-we need him." And then I, in 1944, June of 1944, I turned twenty-five, and in the fall or August I got drafted because anybody who hadn't reached their twenty-sixth birthday got drafted. And we had two kids. HEL: Regardless of that he was in the vital industry. See, that was keeping him out till that point. BBL: Right. So now, when you went to the post office and told them that you operated a press, were you being assigned to a certain service? I mean in the Army, the avy? PAU: BBL: PAU: BBL: you? p No, no. As a civilian As a civilian. So you, it was aAnd they were making big money. Oh, I see. And so was the plan that Helen and the kids would go with Ohno! No. 22 |
