BBL: We' ll put that with your record, if that's all right. JAY: 0 h, that's fine, yeah. BBL: Okay. I need to do a brief introduction here. This is an interview with Jay Layton in his home in Salt Lake City, Utah. Today's date is July 12, 2001. This is part of the Saving the Legacy Project and my name is Becky Lloyd. Jay, when and where were your born? JAY: Well, I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on June 27, 1925. BBL: You just recently had a birthday, then? JAY: Yes. Uh-huh. Yeah, seventy-six years old. BBL: What was your father doing at the time you were born? JAY: My father was in the construction business, building homes and small commercial buildings. BBL: In the Salt Lake area? JAY: In the Salt Lake area. BBL: And where was your family living when you were born? JAY: We were living on Sherman A venue, I don't know if I can remember an address. It might have been 1425, or something like that, Sherman Avenue, between Fourteenth and Fifteenth East. It's about a block from the Uintah School; it's on Fifteenth East. |
