Show D L L I th n tim that I did ace pt it and lock d it in my 1 r th t 1 t r it went down with the ship. o it s still sa£ . BEC: It's too bad that the guy who went back and found th hip didn t brin 11th t money up. DAL: Oh, he'd have had a hard time getting down there and finding anything I m ur . BEC: We were talking before the tape started about one of your shipmate who wa n the destroyer with you, who went back just a few years ago and found the wreck. I just wanted to say that on the tape, so people will know what we're talking about. He d gone back there and found the site and found the wreck. DAL: Yes, he'd been interested in that and had been interested in that for quite a long time, for some reason. There are some people over there and apparently they hire over in that area, there on certain islands, to do certain things and I think he had somebody helping him locate that. It took him quite a while, because you can imagine the bottom of the ocean and trying to find something. BEC: That's amazing that he found it. DAL: Well, it was and he searched quite a while, I think, and on our records, and I have the records down there about longitude and latitude and so forth, when we were sunk, where we were located, at least he had that idea. But in the ocean; that's a lot of area to worry about. BEC: After you were in Tokyo getting repairs for a few days and unloading, you came back? DAL: We just came back to the States. I was just trying to think where it was that we came back to, last. I was released even. I don't even know if I had the record on that 35 |
