Show ELDON BAXTER SEPTEMBER 21, 2001 beret. The green beret. And then I have, all my uniforms are 1n the cedar box. Probably down in the bottom. I still have all that left and stored. At that time, I weighed a hundred and forty pounds. And I'm still, I th1nk I weigh about four pounds heavier now I we1gh about a hundred and forty-four now So I haven't, I've gained and I've lost. As of now, I've had an aneurysm, a stomach aneurysm, that they had to repair and I've got a graft 1n my stomach now from the aorta. So, I am a little handicapped, but I seem to be getting along pretty good. I'm having most of my yard work done. Everything I have done I'm having hired. BEC: Well, let me JUSt bnng th1s up to date. You got back to the United States after you were discharged. ELD: BEC: the time? ELD: BEC: ELD: BEC: ELD: Uh-huh. And as you said, you were already marned. Where was your w1fe at I was discharged at Fort Douglas. At Fort Douglas? Uh-huh. And was your w1fe living in Salt Lake? Yes. She was there to meet me. I called her from New York telling her when I would be In. And she was there to meet me. And I had an old 1935 Ford. And she was there w1th the Ford. And we arranged to find a place to stay that night until the next day After that we went looking for a place, a permanent place. So we found an apartment up on First A venue. We stayed there until 1948 when we moved in th1s VICimty, which was about a little north and a little west of where we are now But 1t's still 23 |
