Show ELDON BAXTER SEPTEMBER 21, 2001 BEC: Now In your units they did sort of mix you up, didn't they? Didn't they try to have fifty-fifty? ELD: Yeah. We wore the Amen can uniforms, all of us. BEC: Yeah, but what I mean Is they tned to mix you up, they tned to mix Canadians with Amencans In your individual units? ELD: Yeah. Uh-huh. BEC: They mixed you together They didn't keep you separate? ELD: In each regiment there was Canadians and Amencans. And dunng our parades and everything that we had, the Canadians would march their way, and we'd march our way You know how the Canadians do They have this walk here and swing their arms. BEC: Yeah. ELD: But anyway, as we fought, they all fought together They were all mixed up; the Canadians and Amencans were as one. BEC: Right. So, having all those soldiers there in Helena must have changed the town of Helena a httle bit. Did you ever get into town? ELD: BEC: ELD: BEC: ELD: It did Immensely Oh, yeah. Did they like you? Yeah. Did they? Yeah. We have a monument in Helena, Montana. The last time I went to a reunion was about four years ago, when they had theu reunion there. And since then I haven't been to one. But like I say, this year they're having It in Hahfax and that's 14 |
