Show OBERT H. ALLRED u t th 2 ROB: Yes they had the Boy Scouts. I never did go too far in Boy cou on ace unt all of these chores and stuff but they did have that. BEN: Okay. Was there a group of friends that you palled around with? ROB: Yeah, Sunday school friends and I knew mostly farm guys. One of them is an old friend of mine. He's a dentist, now, from Mount Pleasant. He's like me: too old and now he's got to retire. He and I were baptized together in the Manti Temple. We did some baptism work for the dead while we were there. Good friends. BEN: So you pretty much palled around with a small group? ROB: A group, and same with the girls. My wife came to Ephraim in fourth gradeshe's with the group we grew up together with, pretty much. BEN: Okay. So you met your wife in fourth grade, I guess? ROB: Yeah. Her father come down there as a teacher in the college, in music. His name was Professor Harry Arnold Dean. He's got some hymns in the hymn book in the church. And his father did, you know, old time pioneers. In fact, her grandfather, opened the Samoan mission for the LDS Church and her father followed him up and went over there before he married her mother. BEN: You were born in 25, I guess you start getting decent memories right in the middle of the depression. ROB: Yeah, I can remember those. BEN: Do you know, does anything come to mind that marks that time period? 6 |
