Show Lintsing,Shantung,Ciina, «*an * 15,19 24. Dean Bdith, A few lays ago ^ sent off fin envelope filled with things that had come for you or would be of interest ant i have some none to add now* Cheng Lan Fang finally, after much persuasion, got that letter written for the present firth grade: I am afraid that it isn't much of a. letter but perhaps the children -rill find a little enjoyment in it. it is so hard to get them to do things by themselves and ± would forget about it, so -*- am fiflraid the chil Lren will think that we didn't care about their letter. I am enclosing a letter from a lady in 111.! A have just written to her and sent a school letter. The things for Kiss Ting and her mother i will send on to her. The towel, washcloth, and handkerchief for yon i thot d would send on,and then thot 1 wouldn't because you probably wouldn* *" care about having them, and then diss Gertrude wanted something to give to ^r.Chang Hsin Tz'w,at the hospital at xechou, who is to be married and I thot that probably you and Urs. Shedden both would think that was a good way to use it,so gave it to Miss Gertrude to use in that way. I shall be glad to send/ome of the children* industrial work to your nieces I haven'" heard from her yet and perhaps i will send it on to you. i have severa/packages of a dozen bibs in the homespun, and perhaps they would like to sell one of those. The little children have been working at those, and doing very well,so I have quite a lot on ?land. When they learn to do better work there will not be so many bibs made. Thanks for your nice birthday cards i spent that day on the «->rand Canal on my way back from xehtaiho, and we had a good time but I don' L remember that we did anything especial. There usually isn't much chance for that on a boat! - And your letter and its pressed flowers was so intcrestings -^ like to think of you in the woods and fields and keep thinking of the time when 1 will be getting back to them again. i surely have missed Ruth this year and have had to let things go as never before. It is nice to have Pa4|and ban Fang back altho the first gave me a good deal of troubles they have taken Chagge of the Pood an I lone very well, and helped out in other ways. It surely is a relief to have so; e of that kind of teachers ^around and I hope there are more and more fo them as the years go by. Ch'un Yu is a-a faithful as ever in the industrial work and the job of matrons she has had the store room key and I hardly ever go there, i was much surprised and pleased to find that room in iuch good order when d went in once this spring. The girls have gone home now and the yard is so quiet. We have about a month and a half of vacation this years i am going to teking to see Ruth but begrudge the time it takes and dislike the trip most heartily. I know I will have a good time and will be so glad to see her again, but there are so many thlngsjsere that I could do. I gave the picture to Shu Lan and the other cards and pictures we use in the Sunday Schools. Miss Gertrude has had such a good class and has spent so much of herself on it. it was too bad to have this last part spoiled with the stealing of forty old catties of flour and souse beans from the store-room,with Shu Lan accusing Shu Li,and a general rumpus all around. Poor liiss "ertrude was about heart-broken and the thing hasn'_ been cleared up,but the noise has died down and they will close the class in peace anyway. This week it closes and Miss **ertrude leaves on Saturday to spend Sunday at ^u-lJ'ang^md then on back to Techou. »ve wall miss her but as -aud and I will be leaving the next Tuesday,we |
