Show (2) much fun for the audience. Later thjfeifts were given out,-dolls,colored cr&yons,toys,beoks,plus,etc.,all of which had been sent out from America by our friends. The children were so happy to receive these things and added to then were bags of peanuts,bit with a gift and put into these bags which had been sent out in boxes, if only our wmmf friends"could Be-' the ley that their ;ifts ive to these children! On Saturday evening we had the school g i r l s and teachers and hospital nurses here at our house for play. There are so many g i r l s no?/ that they f i l l our rooms,out they s i t on the floor sad Livide up for games and thus man? ;e very well. We had some music from the Victrola, then took groups of ;;irj s upstairs to ooo our new addition and the other roosiSpfer most of them had not been upstairs in a foreign house and mere interested to see how we l i v e . Meanwhile the ether g i r l s were playing gene ,-"Going to .Temsalen",f'ugio **usic,blowing out a ' candle while blindfolded,etc. Later we distributed peanuts for forfeits in a catch game and there was a noisy time but l o t s of fun to see who could get mere peanuts. Then we called in the classes one by one and gave them t h e i r gifts,-more dolls,crayens,handkerchiefs,soap in" boxes,safety piss, fancy pins,etc.,and a colored post card for everyone. On Sunday mornin ; w 5 ha 1 a number »f extra Christmas songs at our regular service and mi the special service on Tuesday we had my more. The school g i r l s sang,"Holy 'Sight",the school boys the "Hallelujah Chorus",the mans' station class sang the tune "Christ the Lord i s Hlsen Todayjboth dayschools hod songs,as did also the •e»enfS station class. I t is a great honor to sing at such special times and all the groups early in the season plead with their leader to teach then a song and then they -are so proud when i t is their turn to perform. The l i t t le children were so dear,so fat in their wadded clothes,uncertain as te how to get onto the platform and where to stand after getting up the steps, fearful about starting the song but gaining confidence as they proceed,until sometimes the whole l i n e Is swaying in unison and singing at such a speed that the organist has difficulty in keeping up J - On boltli Sunday and Tuesday there were toe many people to be allowed into the chunch at nnce,for our church building Is small,so the ^%men were taken to the station class rooms shore the Bible woroen talked to them,while the teachers and school g i r ls helped to entertain the children in the kindergarten ror*r~. There we find Btuch use for the bails that have been sent for the children like nothing better than te play with b a l l s ! some of the outside children have never had such playthings and are delighted to join the fun. Bern bag %1 io aff ro" much pleasure as well as ether toys, WO a re so glad to have these nice rooms close to the church for so Often there are crowds of children who are noisy an 1 r e s t l e s s in church but glad to come out for a, play time. ¥© have had sixty-nix g i r l s in school this semester, fifty-four of i-fiom if ere boarders. Thirty-three of these were in the industrial department,-tuore than we can take care of well but i t is hard to refuse those who want to come in. The soldier father of one of the g i r l s was k i l l e d by bandits this summer,- he was burned and then thrown into the canal,* and the mother did not have enough money to keep her daughter in the regular school so she entered the half-day school,glad to s t i l l be able to study some. A Bible woman came in from the country t e l l i n g of a sixteen-year old .girl who was poor but could dc good handwork and wanted very such to study in out industrial schools we f i n a l ly decided to l e t her come,with the help of a special gift from a friend,and she lias done such good work and i s such a nice g i r l that we feel very glad that we could help her.
