Show • 6- AD: I don't know altogether ( laughter). GT: Quite a few. AD: But some are dead. GT: Uh huh. When you started to school over in Blanding were you in about the fifth grade, fourth grade? AD: Yah. GT: Fourth grade? AD: Um hum. GT: Did you find it quite different from being over at Ignacio? AD: Yes, cause we had to walk to school instead of . . . GT: You lived right at school. AD: Um hum. GT: Was it a long walk? AD: Yes. GT: How far do you think it was? Was it five miles? AD: I don't know how far it was from Westwater to Blanding. GT: Boy, on a cold morning that's a tough walk, isn't it? AD: Yes. GT: And then you'd walk home at night? AD: Um hum. GT: Did they ever have a bus service? AD: No. GT: Did you have a horse to go on? AD: No. GT: When the weather was bad it must have been kind of hard to get to school. |
