Show - 16- JS: make a person feel proud of their history and stuff. Have you ever talked about that with anyone or has Vernon ever said anything to you about that? AD: The way I feel though, it probably x^ on't happen though, up here at the school they should have one of our tribe go up there and start with the grade schools, when they're small and teach them some Ute and then English, and that way they would know both. GT: Both, so that they teach the language in the schools. AD: Yes. GT: What about the legends and the stories, do you think they should teach those in the schools? AD: Yes. GT: Do very many people know those here? AD: Some might. GT: Do you remember being told those when you were a small person? Did your mom or your dad tell you them? AD: But, now I heard from the senior citizens down there. GT: Do you think you were gone to boarding school too much to hear that? AD: Yes. ( laughter). GT: Do you have any other comments you'd like to make, are there any things that we haven't talked about that you think we should, that should be part of the history program, history project? How do you view the building of the houses and all that? Do you think it's pretty positive? Are they doing a good job with it? |
