Josephine ( Josie) Bassett McKnight Ranney Williams Wells Morris builds ranch on upper Cub Creek ( near Jensen). Josie ( 1874- 1964) was raised in Brown's Park with her sister " Queen Anne." Liberty LDS Ward , organized at Taft ( LaPoint). Local voters create Duchesne County out of eastern part of Wasatch County. Duchesne is made county seat. Entrepeneur Jesse Knight attempts to organize town at Blue Bench ( Blue Mesa), project fails for lack of water. Roosevelt Standard newspaper begins publication. Uintah School District is organized which consolidated 22 schools. Electric power plant is constructed on Uinta River, north of Whiterocks. Kneale Highway is built by Indian Agent Kneale from Myton to Ft. Duchesne. Ioka LDS Ward chapel is built. Mountain Home LDS Ward chapel is built. Presidential proclamation establishes Dionsaur National Monument. Telephone line connecting Altonal, Boneta, Mt. Home, Talmage and Duchense is built onto line of Dry Gulch Irrigation Company at Roosevelt. Telephone office is established at Duchesne in Grant Hotel. Mt. Emmons LDS Ward chapel is built. Trinity Church is built in Roosevelt. A post office is established at Monarch, but is discontinued in 1924. Bank of Vernal is built with bricks sent by parcel post. Local voters establish Daggett County, with Manila as the county seat. |
