SOUTHERN ARABIA EXPEDITION, TOO Bid to Learn About "Spice" Age } NEW YORK December 24 (A.N.A) - The American Foundation for the Study of Man is also sending an expedition to previously unexplored Southern Arabia. Equipment, which includes an aircraft artd eleven trucks, has already been shipped to Aden. This expedition is expected to last "or several months. Tr Wendell Phillips, President of the Foundation, said that Southern Arabia was regarded as an especially promising region for archeological investigation because it was known to .have had a rich civilisation as far back as the time of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. . 1-. , ^ !_ I -I J First object of the expedition will be to build up a succession of the types of pottery characteristic of the different periods from the earliest times to the Middle Ages. Second will be to learn more about the mysterious civilisation of Southern Arabia during the age of the first spice trade with the Mediterranean countries - about 3,000 years ago. . ' The expedition will also endeavour to :throw light on the time and place of the domestication of the Arabian camel -- still a mystery in the history of civilisation. Any discoveries made will be shared by the American Foundation and the Government of Aden, WHOM WILL ISRAEL BATTLE ? If They Flout U.N. Authority LONDON December 24 (A.N.A) - Mr Owen Tweedy, formerly cublic information officer to the Palestine government a-d subsequently director- of British Information Services in the Middle East, writing in the "Daily Telegraph", queries whether "Israel" will accept the U,N.. decision to internationalise Jerusalem. Mr Tweedy declares: "That question is today being asked everywhere.. "So far reaction in 'Israel' has been.on the lines of resistance, and, incidentally, the use of that word is ominously frequent. ,„,„.,, •., "But whom will 'Israel'•battle? Will it be the representatives of the Trusteeship Council? Will a responsible 'Israeli' government - still mindful of the disgrace of the Bernadotte murder - be prepared to sponsor a challenge to United Nations authority which might lead to a renewal of political assassinations?"
