Show W *7 *' l*f Sharia Wadi el-Nil, * /i Maadi, April 1?, 19?2. Dear Mrs* Adams $ Your kind letter Of March 31 arrived here while I Has on an official archaeological tour of pertain sites in Upper Egypt* My wife tried to contact you several times in order to let you know my absence frcn Cairo without a fixed adcress, bts# evidently she failed* However $ I expect that my letter to you on a different matter must have exelain&d-«gr,tardiness in replying at an earler date, I do so now immediately on my return. Dr. R. A. Phillips is justified in thinking that there is - c real work of reference on the subject of Metallurgy in Ancient ^gyot* On the other hand* the subject of early Egyptian I.'etals has been " considered by a number of authors in several articles and treatises published in many countries. These are included in the bibliography compiled by Ida A* Pratt on Ancient Egypt* Yol* I, pn* 22V-5 (Metals)* 236-8 (Industries and Chemistry)* and Vol* II, wp0 170-7! (Hetals), 150*82 (Industries and Chemistry), The only book that I know which deals with the subject in general is "Alfred Lucass Ancient Egyptian Materials and Industries; 2nd, ed.4 London 193*M ®v. xii, W 7 , n This is a work of high authority and it includes of course reference to all published material on Ancient Egyptian l-'etillttrgy. I trust that this note answers Dr. Phillips pferpose. 11? wife joins me in sending you and Mr. Adams our best wishes, Yours very sincerely Aziz S. Atiya |
