C, Sir: This will aoknowledge reoeipt of Office letter of the 25th ultimo, briefed as above, wherein request is made for a report at the earliest praoticable date as to the results of the recent oounoil with the Indians of this jurisdiction, looking toward the suppression of the gambling and dancing evils, and in response thereto there is submitted the following: The meeting was called to order about 10:30 A. M., February 13, there being present possibly 75 male adults. Agter greeting them, the Superihtendent started to read to them the Commissioner's telegram of February 12, and was interrupted by Red Cap, who rose from his place in the U-'&Bsemblage and advanced until he stood directly in front of the Superintendent, speaking vigorously in Ute the while. After he had finished, the interpreter advised the Superintendent as to what had been said, and it seemed that he was making a vigorous tirade upon the authorities for permitting the agency to be removed from Whiterocks io Port MAR 1 9 1915 |
