She did not look big enough to know the difference between a copper cash and a doughnut. "Not now" remonstrated the teacher. " But Mother told me to get some for littie Fatty! " It was only with difficulty that she was persuaded to wait till on her way home. And then the little ears relaxed and the tongues stopped watering. The tots from this kindergarten, very clean and very smiling, captivated the big audience in the church on Christmas Day with two games and songs. One could fairly pick out the radiant parents by the glow of their pride. Children's Day: Tungchow So, in T A I K U H S I E N. the kindergarten is a revelation to mothers and fathers. Mornings, wfien the gate is opened for the children to come running in, mothers too com? hobbling on their tiny feet to see what their children are doing. Then they sit in proud marvel at the games and songs their little ones have learned so quickly. At Christmas time here, too, they helped for the first time, and the father of one baby in arms was heard to say: " When my boy is big enough, he shall go to that kindergarten," a sentiment which found many echoes.
