Show 42 NORTH CHINA MISSION military officials have given, entirely unsolicited, in appreciation of services rendered by the branch hospital which has been established there for years. The older brother, unfortunately, went into another county in pursuit of some opium sellers, and his posse was attacked by a mob, one of whom was shot. Knowing Chinese practice in such matters, he lost no time in traveling to another province, and is now awaiting the result of negotiations for his return. A rich man, with something of this sort attached to him, is a plum eagerly desired by officials, and not readily found. Two of the eight stations of the mission are rejoicing iu new hospital plants, nearly finished, while LTNTSING is planning to build this next summer. TECHOW HEALING PLANTS feels that it is a remarkable fact, clearly showing God's part ill this work, that Mr. "Cloud," the middleman could purchase the fifty irregular tracts of land, in all aggregating some thirty-five acres, leaving not a single spot unpurchased within the rectangular area, and only three small areas outside this "general compound," all of which have their use. Here have been and are being erected the Siamese twin hospitals, for men and for women, the two boarding schools, and the foreign residences, while the evangelistic work will be carried on iu the South Suburb, a short mile away.
