Show -2- sion is made for the payment of at least one-half the cost of said examination and report by associations and agencies interested in the irrigation of the lands of the Imperial Valley and lands adjacent thereto; and 4. Whereas, the United States Reclamation Service is entrusted with the work covered by said act and agrees to make said examination and survey and report; and 5. Whereas, that certain public corporation known as the Imperial Irrigation District did on August 28, 1920, contract with the United States of America, undertaking thereby the payment of $40,000, said sum to be paid on behalf of the agencies cooperating with the United States in the examination of the Imperial Valley and adjacent lands with the understanding that agencies other than the said last named district might enter into contracts with the United States, with the approval of the said Imperial Irrigation District, similar in terms and conditions to the said contract of August 28, 1920, providing for participation on the part of such other agencies, in and contribution to the cost of the work undertaken pursuant to said last named instrument; and 6. Whereas, the aforesaid Imperial Irrigation District has approved of the execution of these presents as in the said contract of August 28, 1920, provided; 7. Now, Therefore, in consideration of the premises and mutual covenants and agreements herein contained, it is stipulated and agreed between the parties hereto as follows: 8.
