Show PART IV FUTURE DEMAND Projected Ownership, Land Use, and Crop Production Land ownership The 1,621,500 acres of irrigated land in the region (1965) are essen- tially all privately owned (including Indian lands). Total acreage of land required for irrigation in the region to meet future demands is 1,793,600 acres in I98O, 1,954,200 acres in 2000, and 2,122,100 acres in 2020. The present land ownership status of the latter acreage is shown by Hydrologic Subregions in Table 30 and is illustrated below.
