Show PART L THE ATTACK. f T became my privilege in January, 1905, to hold a station class in Lintsingchow, an old city on the Grand Canal, famous now for the Fourth Moon Festival, when from far and near multitudes of women may be seen wending their way toilfully along to the temples to worship the false gods, seeking through this, their work of merit, peace and happiness and absolution from sin. Sometimes, on their pilgrimages, they used to visit the missions where now only foundation marks of broken brick remain to tell the story of Boxer destruction. Though dwelling houses, hospital buildings and chapel were all destroyed, and till lately no missionaries have lived there, the church still lives and grows, the little company of believers being en- |
