Show MAX COWAN AUGUST 18, 1972 Jesus. In fact, very few people knew Jesus, as far as Jews were concerned. He is not mentioned anywhere in our text. It was just a little group that knew him. We had a lot of false Messiahs, and most of them thought that he was just another false Messiah. We are looking for the "First Coming" and the Christians are looking for the "Second Coming". That is the basic difference. RD: You said that you experienced then some attempts of proselyting. Do you feel that this existed in your early days here in Salt Lake City, or is it something that has developed lately? MC: They always would like to have you become a convert. They are very sold on their religion. There is no fooling about it. It makes them feel good. That is one thing about it. It is like we had a German lady who works for us, and she was a convert from Germany. So her last remark she made to me one time, she said, "Listen, I do not know whether it is true or not, but it makes me feel good. I know I feel like I have got another life coming in another world, and I like that," she says. So if it makes you feel good, that is a good thing. It promises you. HR: Let me ask you something. I would like to go back to something you said, and maybe we can even draw in with what we are talking about. You mentioned Mayor Marcus. 25 |
