Show LK MK LK MK LK MK LK Just got the gas and went horne? Yeah, got the gas and went home. That's it. And, of course, after I got horne I got all kinds of telephone calls from, oh, the sheriff and the FBI and people from all over. I don't know how many. Of course, by 1941 a lot of people knew me by name because I played baseball too, see, on the community league so a lot of people knew me by name. Course we all knew that the relationship was very much strained because the summer of 1941, an FBI agent came to me on a number of occasions to inquire about the background of all niseis in Idaho Falls area so I told them everything I knew about every family. So people had already been concerned way back? Yeah, so this idea of surprise attack and all that, phooey, the FBI and the Navy intelligence, Army intelligence knew that things were very much strainec They were all ready at least. They were prepared anyway. In fact if you read a lot of history about Pearl Harbor, it wasn't a surprise at all. We knew it was coming. We cracked the Japanese code several months before that. PeoplE knew that it was coming. The only thing was they didn't know the American public know so it wasn't a surprise. We weren't prepared. That was it. Do you want to eat that? 121 |
