I heard that my husband and Mr Morishige pounded arout 100 potmds of mochi (beat the rice into rice cake) and left it in a kettle or sarcething. and thought they would eat it when they got back, but when they opened the kettle, it was all spoiled and couldn't eat it. SF So in the winter what kind of pleasure or diversion did you have with the Morishige's:? HI' We didn't have any pleasure or amusement. 'Ihere' s nothing to do in the winter time. I had a sewing machine, the old fashioned peddle kind, so I sewed. clothes. To go shopping, we used a wagon. Payson is a small town and in those days we didn' t do much shopping. In order to .clothed the children, I took my old clothes and made it into childrens' wear. 1\s the children grew up, I sewed coveralls and other clothes and outfits. When I wanted to h.ly a baby buggy, we had to go as far as Provo to buy one. It took us one whole day by horse and wagon. That• s the only time I went to Provo. We couldn't afford any luxuries, so we had to do with what we had, especially when the babies were young. There were certain things you had to hly but when the babies were l::eing carried, I used what I had. SF When you moved to Dra:p=r, were you able to visit Salt Lake? Hr We only stayed in Dra:p=r arout, less than a year, fran March to Noverril:x:rr, so I didn • t go to Salt Lake at all, not once. Busy on the fann.
