Show Ichiro Okumura 7-20-84 s3:18 guys once in a while to see how they're doing. If they're working or not. Quite a few of them got laid off. But, the guys, there's a lot of guys that worked for~ for quite a few years. And alot of them that worked on a track gang for me, they still remember me. And they always say hi to me. L Worked together day in and day out. IO Oh, yeah. You got to work with them, live with them, more or less. You spend more time with them then you do with your family. Of course, there's been so many people that's worked for ~there's alot of them I don't remember too well. But there are certain ones thatyou-naturally you're going to get close ... But alot of the guys, they might nor know me personally, but they knew who I was. Because I was up there for so long. L Did you have any method of how to deal with these guys? IO Well, I tri~d to treat th~ guys like I would like to be treated. But in return, I'd like-- you know, wanted to get the same thing from them. So I've had a philosophy when I was a supervosr that I wanted the people to work with me and not for me. There's a difference. Youcan go tell a guy, hey, you go do this. Or you can go to a guy and say, will you do this? There's a difference. L A big difference. IO But there are some people, you have to tell them. You do it. Cause some of them say. No, get somebody ee~e. I say, you, I toldyou to do it. You do it. You've got to put your foot down some place. You can't be - just because that guy don't want to do it, you go ask somebody else to do it. That's not right either. |
