Show Ichiro Okumura 7-20-84 s1:6 end. L They could shoot the water down. IO Yeah. Heck we used tomve what they call leveling floats. One man would stand in back there Like my Dad would stand in back and I'd run the tractor and he'd take the dirt, you know, and like a bucket. You've seen like graders and that where they take. L Dirt-- IO Yeah, move the dirt from the high spot to the low spot. Well, that's what we did. And so we had a blacksmith. Well, a friend of mine was farming in Murray and he had the type of a float and we asked him, if he brought one, from when hemoved here from California. See, they came direct-- L What's a float. IO Well, it's a eveler. L Just a kind of a shovel. IO It's like a box with wheels on it. Andyou pull it with a tractor. And t has a little thing- a lever that you can raise up and down. And t's like a bucket on a shovel. L And you can pick dirt up with it. IO No, you don't pick it up . Actually, you take it with you. And then you--then you let up on the thing to let it out, a little bit at a time. Just like a dump, whatever you want to call them. L Who wasyour friend in Murray. IO A fellow named Cato. And they went back to California. I guess they're farming some place. I don't know. Anyway, we took a blacksmith with us. |
